The graphic on the Scrimmage The Trade basketball shorts is a spectacular encounter between Renaissance art and NBA culture, transforming a classic icon into a contemporary narrative.
The inspiration is taken from the famous painting "The Birth of Venus" by Sandro Botticelli, an Italian Renaissance artist, created in 1485.
The iconography changes, the central figure is still the goddess of beauty, but her body is covered by a yellow/purple jersey with the number 77, a clear reference to Luka Dončić. On the left, the God of Wind is adorned with a stole in the colors of the Dallas Mavericks, blowing dollars, an allusion to the considerable salary received by the player after the trade, but above all, he moves the shell towards the new shore, into the arms of the Nymph, no longer dressed in classic golden robes, but in a purple jersey number 23, alluding to the young star's welcome by King James.
The new Scrimmage The Trade shorts tell the story of the “birth” of a new era in Los Angeles, where basketball becomes legend and Dončić, like Venus, emerges from art and history to conquer his place in the city of angels.
